weather resistance The recorded file can be converted to a format and processed with YDVR Converter software to convert NMEA 2000 data to GPX tracks, spreadsheets and other formats. Of course, it is not as convenient as recording data with the Voyage Recorder, but it is suitable for tests and trials, etc. Selectable Route/Track Line Thickness and Color: I prefer very thin lines, so chart information is not obscured and different colors for different routes. For example, I may start out from Cape May but have two routes, one to Chesapeake City and a shorter one to Cohansey Island if the weather kicks up. Two different colors keep the routes separate where they are close together at the start. The apps with this feature are AquaMap, iNavX, Max Sea TZ, and Pro Charts. « Prev 1 2 3 4 5 Next » Conclusion Sakhalin LLC

Import and export of routes in GPX format. There are so many quality navigation apps on the market, it’s difficult to choose just one. The features I consider most important are: chart management (navigation, routes and waypoints), ability to import/export waypoints, community guidebook integration (though I’m not a fan of storing the database on my device), integration with an onboard NMEA and WiFi network, and ease of use. SEAiq Pilot is the premier app in the SEAiq family of chart plotters. It is designed especially for use by river/channel/harbor pilots. It includes support for loading vector charts in the S-57, S-63, iENC, and BSB/KAP formats and use of external NMEA/AIS over WiFi. Recreational mariners can have many of the features in SEAiq Pilot, at a much lower price by using one of our recreational apps. The SEAiq apps display marine charts on your iPad and provide most common chart plotter features and leveraging the high quality displays and integrated GPS found on most iPads. Download the current version for MacOS. Member specific Travel Report page. Note: In 4Q2017, Garmin discontinued their BlueChart Mobile app, and it is no longer available from the Apple app store. Garmin replaced BCM with a successor “ActiveCaptain” app. The ActiveCaptain app consists of the predecessor BCM features and facilities, but adds the capability to communicate with “compatible” Garmin Chart Plotters and share up-to-date cartography back and forth. The app remains very basic. It works and, in BCM-mode, will look familiar to previous users of the BCM app. The advanced features that are new to the ActiveCaptain app are very welcome. Garmin continues to make these capabilities available only on a proprietary basis with their own branded equipment, but for those with Garmin equipment, the app seems worth having. Garmin has also purchased Navionics. The future of that app is unknown at this writing (December, 2017). Navigation for Mariners Around the Globe
